About LowersHVAC: Our Team, Methodology & Data Sources

Who We Are

LowersHVAC is an independent, data-driven technical library built by James Walker, NATE-Certified HVAC Installation Professional (#NATE-58291) with 14 years of field experience in residential and light commercial HVAC installation and service. James has prepared over 900 bid packages for projects ranging from single-zone heat pump replacements to full-home multi-zone HVAC system designs. He has consulted on 5 HVAC-related insurance claim proceedings involving equipment failure and improper installation disputes.

Our data contributors include licensed mechanical engineers (PE), NATE-certified technicians, ACCA-certified HVAC designers, and EPA 608-certified refrigerant handling professionals. Every specification sheet on LowersHVAC is cross-checked against current manufacturer published datasheets and applicable ASHRAE/ACCA/AHRI testing standards.

Our Methodology

Each specification entry in our database follows a rigorous three-stage verification process:

  1. Manufacturer Datasheet Extraction: Raw specifications (SEER2, HSPF2, AFUE, capacity ratings, sound levels) are extracted from the latest published manufacturer product datasheets and AHRI certification directories.
  2. Standards Cross-Reference: Extracted specifications are validated against the applicable industry standards — ASHRAE 90.1 for energy compliance, ACCA Manual J/S/D for system sizing and duct design, and AHRI 210/240 for performance rating verification.
  3. Field Verification: For high-volume equipment, specifications are validated against contractor submittal packages and commissioning reports from completed installations — ensuring published performance data matches real-world installed performance.
